The first time I went to Pico de Loro, I stayed at Pico Sands Hotel. I had a wonderful vacation experience but I must admit a bit expensive. During my stay there April 2018, I've met people who rented the condominium units. I learned that it is more affordable to rent a unit especially if you are a group. Last April, I returned to Pico de Loro with the family to celebrate mom's birthday.
It took me a month of searching for the perfect place to stay at Pico de Loro at Airbnb. I prefer a superhost, check the photos and I read the reviews. If you are a first-time Airbnb renter, I suggest you read my tips for first-time renters
Finally, I found Joy and Gay's Pico de Loro vacation home at Miranda A. It is located on the higher floor and a leisurely walk to the beach.
We arrived early and was lucky to have an early check in. Ms. Manilyn, the caretaker, was already there to greet us.
I love that the hallway is lit by natural light giving it a bright and pleasant vibe. It was quiet during our stay. I think most of the crowd book the units near the country club. I noticed there were too many people in the buildings near the country club.
Joy and Gay's unit was so clean and smelled so good I had to ask Manilyn about the scent because I want my house to have that smell. It does not have an "instagrammable" interior design but I super love its simplicity. Just perfectly equipped with the essentials to make the guests stay comfortable.

The unit can accommodate 6 guests. You can even have one bed each if you do not want to share beds. There are two double beds with pull out, and two foldable mattresses. Even the couch is comfy enough for day lounging.

The view at the veranda is the forest and mountain making it more peaceful and calming if you just want to stay outside and have some quiet moments.
The kitchen is fully-equipped for you to be able to cook your meals. The unit has a full sized refrigerator, rice cooker, oven toaster, microwave oven, induction stove and electric kettle. Cooking pots and pans, utensils, plates, and cups are also provided. You have to bring your own drinking water though. You can actually order from the reception 5 gallon water but during our stay, I've heard from those staying in other buildings that the water delivery was out of stock. Just to be sure you have drinking water, it's safe to bring your own.
Joy and Gay has installed a water purification system. The tap water is sometimes yellowish. For cooking and washing the food you are preparing, you must use the faucet on the left side.
There's a built-in towel rack at the veranda where you can hang your wet towels. Joy and Gay provides 6 towels. I suggest you bring another set that you can use at the pool or the beach.
There are so many activities to enjoy while you are staying at Pico de Loro. But if you can't afford to have a social media detox, the free wifi at Joy and Gay's place is fast and reliable.
Things you should know:
- The condo unit rate is P3,500 per night for a maximum of 6 adults. Children 3 years old and below are not included in the head count. (rate varies for peak period)
- a separate one time guest fee must be paid upon arrival.
- parking slot is on a first come first serve basis
- the unit is far from the country club where the pools and most of the activities are located. There are shuttle vans available until 10pm.
- Pico de Loro does not accept cash payment. You either avail of the Club Prepaid Card or have your credit card ready.
Joy and Gay are very responsive to inquiries. I highly recommend their place if you are planning to have a vacation at Pico de Loro.
